About Us
The Young Buckeyes Alumni Club of Central Ohio is a group of Ohio State University Alumni who love to have a good time and give back to the community. The club is composed of young professionals who are committed to participating in community-service activities, networking through monthly meetings and happy hours, and fundraising events.
We are a group of young professionals, Ohio State Alumni of course, that work as a team to support scholarship, community and the spirit of Ohio State.
Members attend many social, community service, and fundraising activities throughout the year. Our main purpose is to raise and award scholarship money through endowment funds of Ohio State, and to select a candidate to receive those funds.
The Young Buckeyes conduct many events throughout the year including Annual Football tailgates, Scholarship Fundraising, Volunteer Activities, Monthly Meetings and Happy Hours, and occasional group trips.
YB are constantly looking for alumni members that want to make a difference in their community, and are looking to make new friends. If YOU want to make a difference, meet some fun & interesting people and volunteer some time back to the Ohio State Community, this is your chance!
Membership Requirements
To be a member of the Young Buckeyes, members are required to have:
- Completed at least 15 hours of undergraduate coursework
- An enthusiasm and interest in working with our group
- Not yet reached the age of 40
Annual club dues are $20.00. Membership renewal begins on January 1 of every year.
Associate Membership is open to non-alumni who have not yet reached the age of 40 and alumni over the age of 40. Annual dues for associate members are $25.00
Membership Benefits
Social Events: Happy Hours, Wine Tastings, Tailgates, Trips, Meetings, we've frequented all the cool spots around Columbus, been on ski trip weekends, traveled to out of town sporting events, played volleyball, softball and flag football this fall. There is no limit to the fun things we can do, all we need is the idea and someone willing to organize it! So for all of our hard work throughout the year, we play just as hard!
Networking: We provide both social and professional benefits. Thinking about a new career, or just another company? That company you are searching for probably has a Young Buck already there that you can talk to! Several of the biggest and the best companies in Central Ohio are represented in our membership base.
News: Membership includes a free quarterly YB Newsletter describing events, activities, members, articles of interest and recent club accomplishments.
Football Games: Ahhh, The excitement of football!. Did you know that the Young Bucks normally gets 50 - 80 football tickets every year specially for the club members? That's right, one of the privileges of join the Young Bucks is that you get access to Ohio State Football.
Annual Scholarship Dinner: In conjunction with the Franklin County Alumni organization, an annual dinner is held to honor our scholarship receipients. The dinner is held during the month of May.
Scholarship Endowment Fund: It has been a long-standing goal of the Young Buckeyes of Central Ohio. Our wish to give something back to the university has been the driving force for the club. We work together to raise funds for our endowment by working events at Crew Stadium, The Schottenstein Center, the Columbus Arts Festival as well as our annual Wine Tasting at Camelot Cellars.
